With their design studio Atelier 10.8, Julie Thiers and Henri Van den Broeke have been working on sophisticated interior design projects for years. Yet alongside their daily practice, a separate idea began to take shape: a collection of objects that they felt were missing from their designs, but which are unmistakably present in every home. This led to the creation of Illus Object, a series of mirrors, home accessories and architectural hardware that are as much functional objects as they are silent statements.
What began as a search for elegant mirrors quickly grew into a full-fledged collection in which minimalism and craftsmanship set the tone. The pieces are not decorative by-products, but a conscious intervention in the space. Every design is based on sustainability, from the choice of materials to the reusable linen packaging. This results in a timeless collection that can be effortlessly combined with both classic and contemporary interiors.
Brass is central to the Illus story. While the first designs combined steel with other metals, it soon became clear that brass – with its warm sheen and natural ageing – best reflects the brand's aesthetic and functional values. The collection includes towel rails, hooks and mirrors, designed with the bathroom in mind but suitable for use in any conceivable space.

All pieces are handmade in Belgium, in collaboration with experienced craftsmen. This meticulous working method leads to subtle variations: no two objects are identical. Due to the natural patina that develops over time, each item changes with its environment. It is precisely this slow process that gives the collection its character and makes it resistant to fleeting trends.
Illus does not stand for excess or technical wizardry, but for a modest view of the objects we touch every day. Whether it is a mirror, a coat rack or a holder, each design is a precise translation of Julie and Henri's design vision. In their own words: ‘Our collection is more than just bathroom necessities, they are pieces of poetry crafted meticulously by Belgian artisans.’
