Listening bars have undergone a clear shift in recent years. What once began in Japan as intimate cafés centred on jazz and attentive listening has now taken on a broader interpretation in various cities around the world. In Barcelona, this concept has been given its own unique interpretation in a space where listening is central to the overall experience and does not fade into the background.
The project was realised by Isern Serra Studio, a design studio known for its minimalist yet deeply rooted designs. In this design, a compact urban space is transformed into an environment built entirely around sound and presence. The approach is based on a precise balance between architecture and the daily use of the space, with every element contributing to a calm and attentive atmosphere. 
Inside, the atmosphere is defined by a careful combination of soft mineral surfaces and warm wood. The light, almost powdery quality of the finish provides a calm backdrop, whilst walnut accents add texture and depth. The layout consists of various seating areas scattered throughout the space. Each spot has its own atmosphere and scale, allowing visitors to easily retreat into a quiet environment. The interior has a dynamic character with varying perspectives and atmospheres.

At the heart of the interior stands a large bespoke feature in which various functions are incorporated in a natural way. Equipment, record shelves and storage space are incorporated into the same architectural structure, giving music a tangible presence within the space. The lighting remains soft and controlled, allowing textures and volumes to gradually reveal themselves within the interior.
JAÇ HiFi Café is all about tranquillity, focus and a carefully crafted atmosphere that permeates the entire interior. The combination of materials, layout and acoustics creates an environment that feels both open and intimate. The result is a contemporary interpretation of a listening space in which architecture and sound reinforce each other in a natural way.
