As a Belgian interior designer based in Knokke, Charlotte Vercruysse has already managed to add countless projects to her portfolio. Thanks to her Master's degree in Interior Architecture and Design from CAD-Brussels and experience at top companies at home and abroad, she has been able to carry out countless high-end residential and hospitality projects. Always with the aim of designing serene and carefully composed spaces that stand the test of time while remaining functional and people-oriented.
Subtle material palettes of muted tones balanced with carefully selected furniture and elegant lighting is Charlotte Vercruysse's formula for success. Moreover, the interior designer also designs custom-made stand-alone furniture and interior design herself, resulting in unique projects of elegant scale and proportion. 'Since childhood, I have been creative, which gave rise to my love for design. In my final year of high school, I received an invitation from my father to go with him to the prestigious art fair in New York called 'The Armory show', which meant a huge amount to me. This impressive experience gave the decisive decision to take the plunge into the creative sector,' we hear from her. This is where her love for art and everything related to architecture and interiors began. To this day, she is still a frequent visitor to international art fairs and a member of a contemporary private art collective.
'here should be a kind of obviousness in the design, rather than a forced design'
We would like to take you through an impressive project by this talented Belgian interior designer. With this spacious corner flat in bustling Ghent, Charlotte Vercruysse welcomes you to a world full of atmosphere, colour, materials, textures and craftsmanship. Creating a story with an interior is her trade. Together with her team, she takes you into a world where creativity and craftsmanship come together. She managed to create a real home for three sisters. This flat overlooking a lush green park was transformed into an extremely comfortable and inviting home. It started with a study for restructuring the spaces before the full renovation of the flat began. Thus, the clients could count on extensive guidance on the complete technical package and a customised design with fixed furniture. Vercruysse took the social wishes of the sisters into account, for example they like to invite their friends to dine or co-work together. In doing so, the choices for a large table and open kitchen were obvious. Brightly coloured accents such as the deep green kitchen island, pink pastel shades and green cocciopesto accents in the bathroom and a wood-coloured bar in the sitting room add a lively touch. The original narrow corridor was widened in the middle to create an immersive spatial experience. This corridor serves as a central axis, connecting the large living space and the kitchen with all the private and night areas. The focal point of the living room, a circular dining area with a large custom-made table overlooking the park, provides ample space for entertaining family and friends. In this way, one of their biggest wishes is answered by the interior designer. The lounge at the rear, in turn, received new enlarged windows, literally flooding the interior space with natural light. Finally, the wooden slatted ceiling not only adds a graphic accent, but also improves acoustic comfort. Read the full article in Imagicasa Spring 2023.
