Welcome to the summer months. The high temperatures are just around the corner and they are more than desirable. Whether you are mostly relaxing at home or have immersive travels planned for the coming period, we follow where you go. As usual, we put the pieces of the puzzle together to bring out an edition in which architecture, interiors, art and design show their strongest side. We are honoured to welcome you to our pages once again; and if this is our first introduction, we hope you especially stay for a long time.
You may have our most surprising issue of the year in your hands, as our path crossed a lot of expressive splurges that we simply cannot keep from you. Interiors with clearly aligned eye-catchers, homes that overwhelm you with a load of character, and all gradations in between passed our gaze. Not only neutrality can produce balance, as proven by some of the names united in this edition. Our selected designers of this season are anything but hesitant to enter the spotlight with their individuality. All stand proudly behind their vision and all have their own strengths. Experimental material choices, bright hues, or rather practised restraint: there is no limit to the designs that speak to us. More than ever, we came to realise that home is a place that arouses emotions, a house that bears its soul with pride. Therefore, we also chose several renovation projects that sought a middle ground between existing elements and structures on the one hand and new comfort and design choices on the other. Such considerations resulted in balanced originality. Besides several Belgian names, the list naturally includes international parties from various parts of the world. Together, they account for a diverse range of talent, each with their individual taste.
The realisation that home is a place that evokes emotions as well as a home that bears its soul with pride
Those who especially want to keep abreast of the latest news might hurry straight to our reports on TEFAF and Salone del Mobile. Both are unmissable events within high-end design, both for loyal visitors and newly interested. That is why we ploughed through their gigantic offerings, looking for our absolute favourites, so you can catch up. On top of this, we highlight some individual designers and their best objects. While some are primarily monolithic and prefer unmistakable shapes, others tend towards sinuous and imaginative lines. Occasionally we came across truly iconic finds, as well as young discoveries that are only just breaking through to the big public. Furthermore, we willingly took inspiration from homes where the sun enters prominently. Think of rooms with an internal glow and spacious windows, for example. Moreover, the connection with nature is essential for many designers, and you can notice a Mediterranean approach several times, infused with southern influences. We hope to extend that line directly to you. By a pool, in your garden, or on a beach: this summer we will bring you well-earned relaxation, wherever you are. Nothing else remains for me but to sincerely wish you a blissful summer full of warm memories and a blissful rest. I would like to take a moment as well to thank our committed readers, loyal supporters, and wonderful partners for their encouraging confidence. This edition was another success, and we have also you to thank for that. Welcome back and let us inspire you! The magazine is now available in stores and can also be purchased via our webshop.
