- Interior
Inspired by the heritage of decorative arts and the spirit of the ensembliers, Coutansais Castillo presents its very first furniture collection. For this inaugural launch, studio duo Clara Rebillard Castillo and Victor Poirier Coutansais unveil four masterful pieces: an ottoman, a lantern, a wall console and a rug. Each design is a coherent extension of the interior projects that have shaped the studio's identity, laying the foundations for a unique formal language in which cultural and historical references merge into an imaginative and timeless universe.
The Dvir Gallery plays a crucial role in this project and is the ideal partner for the launch of Coutansais Castillo's first furniture collection. Founded in 1982 by Dvir Intrator, the gallery has focused on avant-garde Israeli artists from the outset, expanding in 1994 to include international names such as Miroslaw Balka, Douglas Gordon and Latifa Echakhch. With the opening of a European branch in Brussels in 2016 and later a space in Paris in 2022, Dvir Gallery has forged strong ties within the French cultural milieu, collaborating with artists, institutions and private collections alike.
Their recent collection balances functionality and aesthetics between clean lines and precious details, with a clear reference to Art Deco. Each piece is entirely manufactured in France, with traditional techniques and high quality standards guiding the creation from initial sketch to finished object. The geometric simplicity and timeless design language of the collection exude a sculptural power, which is simultaneously softened by a careful use of materials and subtle shades. The result is a collection that combines both architectural presence and tactile intimacy, designed to engage in an emotional and visual dialogue with the user.
Tradition and modernity in a sculptural dialogue
This premiere will take place during Paris Design Week in January 2026, in collaboration with the Dvir Gallery, an institution that has been promoting avant-garde artists from Israel and international names such as Miroslaw Balka, Douglas Gordon and Latifa Echakhch since 1982. To mark the gallery's 40th anniversary, it is opening a new chapter in Paris, in the heart of the historic Marais district, where art and design meet. The event will present Coutansais Castillo's four pieces alongside works by historical and contemporary artists, creating an intimate, almost curatorial atmosphere.
The interplay of furniture and artworks evokes a collector's interior in which objects and art subtly question and reinforce each other. The collection invites contemplation and interaction, with every line, shape and choice of material entering into a carefully considered relationship with space and context. In this way, Coutansais Castillo proves that design does not only have to be functional, but can also tell a story, evoke an emotion and embody a timeless aesthetic. This first collection marks an ambitious beginning: a search for balance between sculptural power, refinement and the eternal interplay of art and design.
