The Dutchman and business manager of Framework Studio, Thomas Geerlings, exudes an enormous passion for what he does and thus manages to convince partners and clients of his projects as well. He therefore cites his employees' satisfaction and the number of returning clients as the most important indicators of the successful company. We would like to take you to one of their recent projects, called The Canal House.
At HUTCH, they blur the traditional boundaries of design and create a unique symphony of architecture, interior design, furniture and object sourcing. Here, where creativity meets craftsmanship, they embrace a comprehensive approach that goes beyond the conventional separation of disciplines. The studio is distinguished by its multifaceted role, and this versatility reflects not only deep expertise, but also the rare ability to provide a holistic design service, from the very beginning to the refined completion. The team knows how to transform spaces into works of art, where custom-designed cabinets and carefully selected high-quality materials merge to create a home that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also robust enough to withstand the challenges of family life, not insignificantly.
Thus, functionality and aesthetics go perfectly hand in hand with them. The attention to detail goes beyond the visual, with features such as hidden secret doors and soft, curved elements shaping not only inviting but also private spaces that embrace life. The studio is not only about creating physical spaces, but also about bringing the soul of every nook and cranny to life. The carefully curated selection of handmade furniture, ceramics, sculptures and lighting, from both local artisans and international artists, gives each detail a unique character. Here, iconic pieces and modern creations meet with care, creating a rich and varied collection of art and furniture. Above all, each project is a compelling story, bringing together craftsmanship, imagination and dedication. This groundbreaking approach transcends the usual norms and opens the doors to a new dimension of design, where every element is imbued with meaning and purpose.Inviting one to explore and embrace the boundaries of creativity, HUTCH promises a journey through spaces that are not only visually impressive but also leave a deep emotional resonance. Here, in the union of architecture and design, a story is told that transforms not only spaces, but also the way we experience and embrace them. Imagicasa is happy to take you to one of their outstanding projects.
‘Restoring Victorian heritage and adapting it to modern requirements’
The story begins with the acquisition of the property from a retired man who ironically spent his days on the middle floor of the building after converting it into apartments. Thus, the ground floor suffered from moisture and the top floor suffered from holes in the roof. A couple with three children bravely took up the challenge of renovating this dilapidated 4,000-square-metre Victoian property. They took HUTCH under their wing and together took up the challenging despite strict listed building laws. The transformation that followed took three years and marked an incredible journey. The goal was clear: the property was to be transformed into a sophisticated and luxurious five-bedroom family home. His holistic design and architectural approach came together to create a masterpiece. This was not only a restoration and conservation project, but also a balancing act between past and present, where the studio excelled in creativity and dedication.
