Designer Delphine Krakoff, from the Pamplemousse Design studio in Manhattan, designed this colourful and daring luxury beachfront home for clients in the legendary Miami Surf Club, the famous luxury estate on the coast. "Each space had to have its own flavour and character," says Krakoff. And she certainly succeeded at that!
The Miami Surf Club has always served as a festive oasis since its opening on New Year's Eve in 1930. You regularly found celebrities like the Duchess of Windsor, Noël Coward and Frank Sinatra enjoying the beach life. Nowadays, there is a new sophisticated generation. You'll still find the original club house next to residential towers and a Four Seasons hotel all designed by the famous architect Richard Meier.
Delphine Krakoff designs a bold home on the beach of Miami
The owners of this building bought two adjoining units on the ground floor and called on their permanent interior designer Delphine Krakoff for the furnishings. Since Krakoff had already carried out other projects for the couple, she knew exactly what her clients desired for their Miami house.
The couple collects contemporary art by Vik Muniz, Jim Dine and Chuck Close, among others. Their love of art and the works themselves had to be incorporated into the interior design together with the Miami beach setting. Miami represents energy, colour and is multicultural and the clients wanted to create that atmosphere. That's why the designer created a playful, cheerful and relaxed interior. With the bright colours she used, she certainly leaves her usual comfort zone. But the customer is king and the result is impressive!

Opposite the other rooms, the master bedroom is decorated quite calm with shades of white and grey. A nice contrast with the other daring rooms where white was used as the basic colour and several colourful details were added.
Colour is clearly central to the interior, but the golden bar also stands out immediately and Krakoff chose some iconic design pieces by Liaigre, Jean Royère, Fritz Hansen and Ralph Lauren, among others.
This cheers you up immediately doesn’t it!
