Unconventional designs that generate a wow-feel, that's what we get hot about. Especially when minimalist design manages to generate greatness. With this in mind, architect Santiago Martínez and designer Daniela Alagón designed a beautiful residence among the serene landscape of Querétaro, Mexico. Let's take a look at the impressive design where a sleek interplay of lines makes the whole thing blossom.
Through their direct approach and great respect for the client's wishes, Santiago Martínez and Daniela Alagón knew how to create a haven where the clients would feel at home. The couple fled the chaotic core of Mexico City and exchanged it for the tranquillity of rural Querétaro. Serenity in grand luxury, that's what the clients were aiming for. Their new home should also last for a long time and reflect every phase of their lives: there had to be room in the interior for both their successful professional lives and a quiet retirement. Some flexibility and adaptability of the design were therefore paramount to the architects when creating the villa. In the process, the residents gave Martínez and Alagón the chance to break with conventional architectural norms, something every architect dreams of. In short, the spaces had to serve the clients' needs and give them the breathing space they dream of. 
Because of the carte blanche in terms of structure, the designers chose an irregular shape with an openness towards the three sides of the property. The first side borders an elegant roundabout connecting the house to the neighbourhood and the second looks out onto a vast golf course. Finally, the third side overlooks a path where trees and lush flora enrich the interior of the house like a painting. The boundaries between inside and outside are crossed, allowing residents to rest in a relaxing environment. So although the property boasts a high degree of openness, the designers also took into account the privacy of the residents: the strategic manipulation of the floor levels was the solution for this.
An irregular shape with an openness towards the three sides of the property
Functionality maintains a perfect balance with aesthetics in this design. All zones are linked by the all-encompassing monospace. Its unity is achieved by the monochrome colour palette. The alternation of natural materials and structures gives the entire design its calm character. In addition, the carefully selected designer furniture takes the whole to a higher level. In summary, the relaxed atmosphere in this evolving entity dances with the deliciousness of the surrounding greenery.
