The Dutchman and business manager of Framework Studio, Thomas Geerlings, exudes an enormous passion for what he does and thus manages to convince partners and clients of his projects as well. He therefore cites his employees' satisfaction and the number of returning clients as the most important indicators of the successful company. We would like to take you to one of their recent projects, called The Canal House.
In the enchanting city that is Amsterdam, a unique treasure on Prinsengracht reveals itself - the Canal House of Framework Studio founder Thomas Geerlings. Amid the city's rich history, which feels like a village, this family home stands as a monument to both the past and contemporary creativity. The heart of Amsterdam, a UNESCO heritage steeped in the golden age, the legacy of masters such as Vincent Van Gogh, Rembrandt and Vermeer, offers a home to Framework Studio. Renowned for its lack of an established style, this design studio tells a story of innovation and creativity through the streets of the capital. Their philosophy, rooted in the object, the location, the client and the studio's own vision, has led to international projects that attest to their versatility. The project located on the historic Utrechtsestraat on Prinsengracht, is more than just another residential house. It breathes history, embracing the legacy of the 18th and 19th centuries when canal houses served as warehouses for traders. The house itself, built in the 1640s, tells a story that remained hidden over the centuries. Framework Studio, with their skill and dedication, brought about a harmonious fusion of past and present. A walk through this magnificent house reveals an eclectic mix of styles and eras. After a 15-month renovation that included both restoration and modernisation, Canal House is a living work of art. Classic elements with a contemporary twist create an atmosphere that feels both historic and contemporary. For instance, the house, with a generous 380 sq m, is infused with a collection of vintage pieces. The residents, case manager of Framework with zij wife, have assembled a collection over their 15-year career that reflects the complexity of life - a vibrant and bold symphony of colours and shapes. This house does not just breathe design; it is an exploration of life itself. The collection in the house tells a story of balance and imbalance, of dark edges and vibrant hues. It is not just a house; it is a gallery imbued with the personal vision of its occupants.
An oasis of creativity where the concept of home takes on a deeper meaning
A welcome to their world, where kindness merges with boldness, and where the line between provocation and subtlety is carefully guarded. In the bustling backdrop of Amsterdam, where the warm house stands as an oasis of creativity, the concept of home takes on a deeper meaning. Here, history and modernity come together, woven into the fabric of a city that never ceases to surprise. Welcome to Canal House - where every corner, every piece of design and every breath is a celebration of the past, the present and the unlimited possibilities of the future.
