On Thursday evening, 27 November, Hoeve Etienne in Maldegem took on an extra special character. The restored farmhouse, with its impressive ridge supported by charming wooden beams, formed the backdrop for an evening where designers, makers, and professionals from the interior and design world met one another. The green landscape surrounding the property provided a relaxed setting, while indoors the first guests arrived for a networking event intended to be as informal as it was inspiring. The setting immediately set the tone for an unforgettable evening.
Candidates featured in the books ‘Belgian Craftsmanship’, ‘Dutch Craftsmanship’ and ‘Craftswomen’ gathered from all corners of the country and beyond to meet in person. In addition, other prominent names from the interior and design sector were naturally present on the guest list. Upon arrival, guests could refresh themselves with an (alcohol-free) drink from Fevertree and Copperhead, and the first photos were taken as early mementos of the many beautiful moments still to come.
Not long after, the event opened with an engaging lecture by Rik Torfs, who addressed themes surrounding entrepreneurship and the dynamics of the current professional landscape. His contribution served as a starting point for further conversations that unfolded throughout the farmhouse afterwards. Some guests signed up for a blind speed date to meet new conversation partners (and possibly future collaborators). Others let chance play its part, preferring spontaneous conversations that arose naturally in the relaxed setting. In any case, every attendee shared at least one key element: a passion for craftsmanship and creation.

The pleasant atmosphere of the evening was enhanced by SJB Catering. The team treated guests to a glass of bubbles and refined canapés that left a lasting impression. The variety of flavours and presentations aligned seamlessly with the event’s character: light, polished, and inviting. Guests returned home not only with a new set of connections and ideas, but also with a well-filled goodie bag containing products from the evening’s sponsors: sweets from Temmerman, chocolates from picobello, and skincare items from Caudalie.
Although the evening was primarily dedicated to networking, it offered much more than that. It reunited professionals who each, in their own way, contribute to the field of authentic craftsmanship, and provided space for new ideas, collaborations, and inspirations. The warm responses, lively conversations, and palpable enthusiasm underscored the success of this edition. It was a moment of togetherness that lingered long after, carried by people who propel their craft and their community forward with conviction.
Special thanks to our sponsors: Temmerman, picobello, and Caudalie.
