Step into a world where art and elegance come together in the heart of New York City. This transformed duplex was custom-made for a young family of passionate art collectors and curated by renowned art curator Barbara Cartategui. With her keen eye and expertise, she has orchestrated an exceptional collection of contemporary art that breathes life into every corner.
We would love to introduce this architectural masterpiece designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects. The precast concrete panels, carefully crafted to mimic the elegance of limestone, create a harmonious dialogue between the past and the present. Natural light invades the living spaces through the bay windows, with breathtaking panoramic views of the New York skyline. The spacious duplex spans 6,000 square feet and exudes sophistication and tranquillity in its three bedrooms. The living room, bathed in natural light, beckons with its charm and flows seamlessly into a spacious terrace. A culinary retreat awaits on the left, as the kitchen and adjacent breakfast nook invite conviviality. Upstairs, there is a piano room, two children's bedrooms, a family living space and, finally, the master bedroom.
It embraces minimalism without sacrificing a welcoming ambience
For the project, Barbara Cartategui worked closely with Workshop/APD, the visionary design firm that transformed the interiors into a warm yet glamorous haven for both sophistication and family comfort. Soft curves, sumptuous plaster finishes and a vibrant, harmonious palette harmonise effortlessly with the homeowners' affinity for neutral tones, resulting in a home that exudes understated luxury. Embracing minimalism without sacrificing a welcoming ambience, it seduces with its rich textures and timeless allure. 
Cartategui's role in this project is crucial, as she is the driving force behind the art collection. As an art consultant, she knew how to carefully curate each piece, ensuring a cohesive and balanced whole that resonates with the space it is in. In this remarkable residence, art becomes a seamless extension of the family's daily life. From museum-quality masterpieces by established artists to thought-provoking creations by emerging talents, the collection pulsates with an energy that transcends the visual realm. More than that, for the curator, art is more than decoration; it is an embodiment of energy, a source of serenity that envelopes the soul.
