Founded in Milan in 2009, Hannes Peer Architecture is a multidisciplinary design studio renowned for its craftsmanship, cultural depth, and architectural precision. Led by Hannes Peer, the studio blends South Tyrolean traditions with international design experiences from OMA in Rotterdam and Zvi Hecker in Berlin. This distinctive approach integrates historical context, cultural narratives, and cutting-edge innovation into groundbreaking designs.
With projects ranging from large-scale hospitality concepts to intimate residential spaces, and collaborations with brands like Minotti and Baxter, the studio continues to push the boundaries of contemporary architecture. The studio located in the picturesque Algund near Meran, exemplifies this vision. Spazio 46 embodies a perfect fusion of tradition and modernity. Designed by Hannes Peer in collaboration with Karin Innerhofer, the project reflects a deep respect for local culture while embracing an innovative vision of organic architecture. Embedded within a natural setting of vineyards and mountains, it offers more than just a place to stay—it delivers an experience. The architecture strikes a balance between simplicity and sophistication. The structure follows the natural contours of the hillside, featuring terraces and overlaps that seamlessly integrate with the landscape. Expansive panoramic windows provide breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and vineyards, while the interiors exude warmth through the use of locally sourced walnut wood and gneiss stone. The interiors of Spazio 46 are meticulously designed to blend functionality with aesthetics. Custom-made pieces, such as a sculptural bookshelf crafted from walnut wood and Gneiss stone, enhance the spaces. The kitchen, entirely built from local walnut wood, is both modern and rustic, offering a welcoming setting where guests can gather and enjoy the stunning valley views.
The studio is a place where tradition and innovation meet to offer a profound experience
The spa and lounge serve as sanctuaries of serenity. Organic lines, warm tones, and tactile materials like naturally pigmented mortar create an intimate ambiance. The highlight is the rooftop terrace, featuring an infinity pool that seamlessly merges with the surrounding landscape, inviting guests to immerse themselves in nature. What sets Spazio 46 apart is its profound connection to local heritage. By utilizing regional materials and collaborating with local artisans, the project embodies the essence of South Tyrol. Guests are invited to embrace not only comfort but also the creativity and authenticity of the region. The studio redefines hospitality by offering more than just accommodation—it provides an experience. Here, tradition and innovation converge in a space that inspires, captivates, and leaves lasting memories. Thanks to Hannes Peer’s vision and the collaboration with local craftsmanship, Spazio 46 is a destination that stimulates the senses and touches the soul.
