The most important thing for Russian interior designer Angelina Kostina is that the interior of her projects reflects the owners. ‘It must seamlessly align with their lifestyle and temperament.’ This vision was made possible by the active involvement of the homeowners throughout the design process. Their openness about their wishes and preferences played a crucial role in translating ideas into a harmonious and functional space, ensuring that this remarkable countryside house near Moscow perfectly mirrors the personality and lifestyle of its owners.
The kitchen is the heart of the home, meticulously designed according to the principles of sacred geometry. A single axis connects a large window, the kitchen island, the sink, and the dining area, creating a profound sense of harmony. Above the dining table hangs an eye-catching chandelier, adding an elegant touch to the space. The dining area is further enriched with chairs, while the table—designed based on Angelina Kostina’s sketches—adds a distinctive, handcrafted character. Floor vases and a ceramic vase on the table introduce subtle natural accents. The overall ambiance of the interior is warm and inviting, thanks to the thoughtful balance of materials, colors, and textures. A key feature is the wooden ceiling, sourced from the Arkhangelsk region. This wood, reclaimed from old houses and fences, carries a unique history and infuses the space with a touch of authenticity.
'For me, the most important thing is that the interior becomes a true reflection of the owners'
Custom craftsmanship takes center stage in the interior. Special attention was given to bespoke carpentry: the dining table, the fireplace, bathroom vanities, dressers with textured doors, and the bed in the master bedroom were all created based on the designer’s sketches. These pieces share a raw finish, inspired by forests and mountains—elements close to the homeowners’ hearts. One striking detail is the fireplace. The mantle is made from a solid block of Dagestani dolomite and appears to float thanks to a refined metal frame. This distinctive feature not only adds character but also highlights the craftsmanship and robustness of the materials used.
The final interior perfectly reflects what Angelina Kostina and her clients envisioned. ‘The original idea has been preserved in every detail and corner,’ the designer proudly shares. ‘My clients fell in love with their home even during the project phase, and together we’ve come such a long way.’ This project is a tribute to nature, craftsmanship, and personal connection. The house now serves not only as a place of peace and inspiration but also as a tangible expression of the soul of its residents. Interior design by Angelina Kostina
