Over the past year, Project 213A has closely collaborated with Le Doyenné to create bespoke furniture that seamlessly integrates with the aesthetics of this historic location. This partnership has not only contributed to the warm and inviting atmosphere of the estate but has also enhanced the unique charm of the restaurant and guest rooms.
One of the highlights of this collaboration is the design of Le Doyenné’s first private dining room, situated within this distinguished restaurant, guesthouse, and farm in Île-de-France. Designed to accommodate ten guests, the dining space features exclusive furniture crafted by Project 213A, perfectly in harmony with the venue’s rustic character. The use of natural materials and refined finishes creates an intimate and atmospheric dining experience, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the estate’s rustic elegance. Beyond the dining area, the design house has also contributed to the furnishing of all guest rooms. Each room has been carefully designed with artisanal pieces, including handmade ceramic side tables, custom-made headboards, distinctive lighting, and various seating arrangements. The combination of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design gives each space a unique character, adding to the luxurious yet homely ambiance of the guesthouse.
Craftsmanship and sustainability at the heart of timeless design
Founded in 2020, Project 213A is a European design house dedicated to creating timeless and sustainable furniture pieces. The brand’s design philosophy is characterised by spontaneity and an experimental approach, ensuring that each piece has a distinct identity. Craftsmanship and sustainability are at the core of its ethos, with a strong emphasis on local artisanship and high-quality materials. The aim is to design furniture that lasts for generations, reflecting the belief that design imbued with emotion and character holds enduring value. Located within the park of the Château de Saint-Vrain, just 36 kilometres south of Paris, Le Doyenné uniquely blends gastronomy with heritage. The estate boasts a rich history, having been home to figures such as the Comtesse du Barry and the Borghèse family over the centuries. In the 1970s, it became a creative space where artists Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely conceived some of their monumental works. Today, under the leadership of chefs James Henry and Shaun Kelly, the restaurant has become a culinary destination where seasonal and locally grown produce take centre stage.
The collaboration between Project 213A and Le Doyenné has resulted in a harmonious fusion of history and contemporary design. By combining traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics, they have created a unique and timeless atmosphere that perfectly complements the soul of this exceptional retreat.
