In the vibrant heart of Midtown London stands the majestic Chancery House, a renewed heritage building transformed into an inspiring workspace for The Office Group. Designed by Norm Architects, this project embodies a harmonious fusion of historic heritage, sustainability and contemporary design. With nine carefully revitalised floors, above the iconic London Silver Vaults, the building pays homage to the city's rich history while meeting the needs of modern workspaces.
Chancery House exudes a unique atmosphere where past and present come together harmoniously. The design reflects the essence of the building and its location with a colour and material palette that evokes both serenity and urban dynamism. Red brick, sandstone and concrete honour the original façade, while polished stainless steel subtly references London's Silver Vaults - a 19th-century underground market located directly beneath the building. This combination of elements creates an aesthetic that pays homage to the rich heritage, while at the same time connecting with contemporary architecture.
The workspace in this project was designed with a focus on well-being and functionality. Wooden screen walls on the ground floor create a warm, inviting atmosphere and offer privacy without disturbing the openness of the space. Comfortable office chairs, specially designed by Norm Architects for Labofa, surround a long communal table that invites collaboration, brainstorming and quiet working. This space supports productivity in an environment where comfort and aesthetics blend seamlessly.
A carefully composed colour palette, inspired by the urban landscape, create a calm yet vibrant ambience
Norm Architects has recognised that work culture has changed dramatically. Chancery House offers employees the freedom to arrange their working day flexibly. Whether it is for concentrated work, exchanging ideas or simply relaxing, the space offers a suitable solution for every need.
The café on the ground floor is an inviting space where the energy of the city flows in. Natural light and a carefully composed colour palette inspired by the urban landscape create a calm yet lively ambience. Here, employees can enjoy a cup of coffee, go through e-mails or gather at communal tables. This café acts as a meeting place that reinforces the connection between work and leisure. Chancery House is more than a workspace - it is a timeless expression of elegance, a tribute to London's rich history and an ode to modern design. Norm Architects has struck the perfect balance between heritage and innovation with this project, creating a space that inspires, functions and connects.
