A new year, a clean slate. With a fresh calendar under our arms, we asked our partners to look back and look ahead to their projects, and their current situation.
Potier Stone is a 4th generation family company from Maldegem that specializes in natural stone processing for the finest interior work. It is not for nothing that they call themselves 'carpenters with stone'. Manager Wim Nelis spoke to us.
What is last year's project you are most proud of, and why?
‘Our achievements vary from large to small projects. But we are proud of them, one by one. A realization that received a lot of attention was the powerful countertop bathed in LED lighting of the King George Café in Sint-Niklaas or the new restaurant Zet'joe of three-star chef Geert Van Hecke. We are most proud of the renowned designers and specifiers see Potier Stone as the reference for the processing of custom stone in interior design. We have had the honour of realizing two designs for the Biennial Interior 2016, the trade fair for design trends.’
What are you looking forward to professionally this year? What are the developments towards the future?
‘At Potier Stone, we always test the boundaries of the materials. Innovation is therefore of paramount importance to us. In 2016, we launched our 'Unseen' toilet button. This push button is subtly positioned, with continuous drawing and without disturbing other elements. In 2017 we will launch two new items. For the time being, this is still a secret.’
Who are your most important business partners?
‘Anyone who has the objective to surround people with beautiful and sustainable products can be our partner. With us, these are clients, suppliers and employees. Potier Stone already has a number of special partnerships.
For example, there is the Inspire Home, a unique concept in Bruges in which 14 top companies joined forces. In this inspirational and experiential space, the partners present the latest interior trends and innovations to designers, designers, architects and interior architects. Upon request, private individuals can also get a personal tour of our Inspire Home.
Another collaboration, across the sector and industry boundaries, is First Friends. This is a commitment in which like-minded companies provide high-quality products and services with excellent service. Anyone who wants to be inspired by baby items, clothing, jewellery, cars, ... and of course natural stone, will certainly find what they are looking for at First Friends. Potier Stone is also a structural partner of AINB (the Association of Interior designers in Belgium) and also proud holder of the Handmade In Belgium label, an authenticity certificate.’
Who is your client base usually?
‘Our clients are architects, interior designers, interior joiners and the better kitchen stores that offer their clients customization with maximum quality. Let that be the mindset of Potier Stone. With great attention to the finishing and project involvement, Potier Stone is able to exceed the expectations of the client. This way, we add an extra dimension to any interior.’
What do you wish for yourself and your (potential) clients for the new year, apart from a classic such as 'good health'?
‘We wish the readers a year in which dreams can be realized. Sometimes there is too little dreaming that is being done. Those who don’t dream cannot pursue and realize their dreams. So dream out loud and bring them to life! Potier Stone can guide you in your dreams about natural stone.’
You’re a mind reader! Thanks!
