In Los Angeles' serene Hancock Park neighbourhood stands Villa Grecco, an enchanting 1930s Mediterranean property that now serves as an inspirational movie house for a bunch of television and film writers. The interior design, provided by Tiffany Howell of Night Palm, exudes a European romantic atmosphere and reflects the quiet elegance of the 17th and 18th centuries, enriched with contemporary elements. This unique combination makes Villa Grecco a true oasis of creativity and inspiration.
A Mediterranean revival, Villa Grecco retains its authentic charm with a rectangular floor plan and lush gardens. The common areas on the first floor feature beautiful French doors that provide access to the verdant outdoors, creating a harmonious connection between inside and outside.
The interior of Villa Grecco is a masterpiece of design, inspired by the film ‘Call Me By Your Name’ and an iconic Gucci floral editorial. The space exudes a cinematic and romantic atmosphere, enhanced by a colour palette of blues, greens and golds. The smoky palette and rich textures add another layer of allure to the home.
The walls of the main living space are covered with a lush textured wallpaper by Pierre Frey, reminiscent of a 17th-century landscape carpet. This creates a sense of immersion in nature. Murano glass lighting fixtures, which feel like precious jewels, add an extra dimension to the room's sumptuous velvet fabrics. A beautiful artwork adorns the organic motifs of the central fireplace in the living room, while round shapes and amber lighting give the room an inviting warmth. Vibrant green velvet furniture brings sophistication and richness to the décor, while creating a soothing and inviting atmosphere.
The dining room is a fusion of vintage and modern elements. The 1940s vintage chairs contrast harmoniously with a crystal ball chandelier and dark walls, accented by gold and amber accents. The reading room, with its deep green tones and fairy-tale mirror, exudes the atmosphere of a Scottish castle and transports you to another era, without losing its modern allure.

In other parts of the house, art deco patterns and luxury materials such as gold and chrome adorn the furniture. These elements perfectly complement the warm beige and brown tones, adding texture and depth to the interior. They act as focal points that enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the home.
Tiffany Howell, founder of Night Palm, has an impressive background as a producer and director of music videos. Her talent and vision have led to collaborations with prominent clients such as Mara Brock Akil and Klay Thompson. Howell's approach at Villa Grecco was deeply personal and intuitive. ‘The project felt predestined because the couple's best friends had a baby at the same time whose nursery I was designing,’ Howell says. The freedom the clients gave her allowed her to create a calming and inspiring space for the growing family.
The challenge of this project lay in timing and planning, as the homeowners had just had a baby. Howell and her team had to work strategically to minimise noise and disruption. Despite these challenges, the first phase of the project was completed within eight months, and Night Palm continues to work on further improvements to Villa Grecco. Villa Grecco is more than a home; it is a living, breathing space that inspires and stimulates creativity. It is a haven where ancient elegance meets modern luxury, and where the magic of filmmaking comes to life.
